I bought this watch because like all g-shock's, they are tougher than hell. I bought my first one when I was in the Marine Corps. They are Marine Infantry tough. My wife bought me this model (G-2300) and I can say they are Ironworker tough. I didn't know if welding would fry the solar battery, but it didn't. The only draw back.... don't get the cloth-velcro band. They don't last as long as the resin bands. For the money, you can't go wrong. An excellant value
